What Happens During a Mobile Service Call?

By Dominic Timperio, Founder · Dash Auto Services

From the moment you book to the moment your car is back on the road — here's exactly what happens during a Dash mobile service call in Fort Myers.

A Dash mobile service call has six steps and the whole thing usually takes 1–3 hours from your initial call to a fixed car. Knowing what to expect makes the first call easy.

Step 1 — Booking. You call (239) 789-5916 or fill out a free quote online. We ask for your year, make, model, ZIP code, and what's happening with the car (slow crank, no start, grinding when braking, AC not cold, check engine light, etc.). Have your VIN and license plate handy if you can — it helps us bring the right parts on the first trip. We give you an arrival window and a flat all-in price for the most likely repair.

Step 2 — Dispatch. We load the most likely parts (battery, brake pads, rotors, alternator, etc.) onto the truck before leaving. For unusual vehicles or uncertain diagnoses we may stop at a parts supplier en route. Most calls in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Lee County dispatch within an hour.

Step 3 — Diagnosis on arrival. The tech doesn't immediately swap parts. First we confirm the actual problem — load-test the battery, check alternator output, scan for codes, inspect the brakes, whatever the symptom calls for. About 1 in 10 calls turns out to be something different from what the customer suspected. This is where we earn trust: we tell you what we found before charging for parts.

Step 4 — Quote confirmation. If the diagnosis matches the original quote, we proceed. If it's different (battery turned out to be alternator, brakes turned out to need rotors too), we stop and re-quote in writing before doing the work. No 'while we're here' surprises on the invoice.

Step 5 — The repair. Most jobs take 30–90 minutes in your driveway. Battery: 30 min. Brakes per axle: 90 min. Alternator: 60–90 min. Oil change: 30 min. Diagnostic only: 20–40 min. We clean up after ourselves — no oil drips, no parts left behind, old parts taken with us.

Step 6 — Verification and handoff. Before we leave, the tech tests the repair. Battery → verify charging voltage. Brakes → road-test for pull or noise. AC → confirm vent temps. We give you a written invoice, walk through what was done, and explain the warranty. Payment is by card on the spot. You're back on the road.

    Frequently asked

How long does a mobile service call take?

Most calls are 1–3 hours from booking to fixed car. The on-site work itself is usually 30–90 minutes depending on the repair.

Do I need to be home during the service call?

Not the whole time, but at the start and end. We need access to the car and keys at arrival, and we need you to confirm payment and review the work at handoff.

What if the diagnosis is different from what I called about?

We stop and re-quote in writing before doing any additional work. No surprise charges on the invoice.

    How do I pay?

Card on the spot when the work is done. We accept all major credit cards. Financing is available on larger repairs.
